Its all about me

I am no queen
I am no priestess
I am no epitome of a life free of distress

I am no countess
I am no hermitess
I am not a chaste and pure saintess

But I am a citess

Tinkly bells :P

Sluggish days and dragging nights,
Life was a big time dawdle.
One fine morning, the humdrum came to a sudden halt!
Things have never been the same ever since.

Waiting eagerly for a new ray of light
to glorify the days that are to come.
A tinkly bell to ring a tune,
to soothe  an ear tired of jarring noises.

(Will add lines to this one gradually ;) )

Dialogues...

"No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how....

"A kiss on the hand may be, quite continental, but diamonds are a girls best friend! A kiss may be grand but it, won't pay the rental on your humble flat, or help you feed your mmhm pussycat! But square-cut or pear-shaped, these rocks don't loose their shape; Diamonds are a girl's best friend! " Moulin Rouge (2001)

But once in a while people like you come along and knock down all the obstacles we put in your way. People who realize free will is a gift, you'll never know how to use until you fight for it. I think that's The Chairman's real plan. And maybe, one day, we won't write the plan. You will." - The Adjustment Bureau (2011)

Woody Allen's Living Life Backwards

Crazy Hilarious piece! a must read for all!

:D

In my next life I want to live my life backwards.
You start out dead and get that out of the way.
Then you wake up in an old people's home
feeling better every day.
You get kicked out for being too healthy,
go collect your pension,
and then when you start work,
you get a gold watch and a party on your first day.
You work for 40 years
until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement.
You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous,
then you are ready for high school.
You then go to primary school,
you become a kid,
you play.
You have no responsibilities,
you become a baby until you are born.
And then you spend your last 9 months
floating in luxurious spa-like conditions
with central heating and room service on tap,
larger quarters every day and then Voila!
You finish off as an orgasm.
I rest my case.

An Entrepreneur in Modern India

The title is introduction enough.
Who is an  En`tre`pre`neur´ ? The Webster Dictionary says that one who takes the initiative to create a product to establish a business for profit: generally, whoever undertakes on his own account an enterprise in which others are employed and risks are taken.
Your question -Why the hell did she choose this topic out of the blue?
My answer - Err.. nevermind... ;)
India has churned out some of the best Entrepreneurs of our time.
I have listed down a few eminent ones below with their approximate years of establishment in parenthesis.

ü  Brijmohan Lall Munjal (1923- ), founder of The Hero Group, which owns Hero Motors(1956)
ü  Dhirubhai Ambani (1933–2002), founder of Reliance Industries(1966)
ü  Ghanshyam Das Birla (1894–1983),Birla family(1947- Starts off with Grasim weaving plant)
ü  J.R.D. Tata, founder of Air India and Chairman of the Tata Group for 52 years.(1946)
ü  J. C. Mahindra, co-founder of the Mahindra Group(1945)
ü  Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (1953- ), founder of Biocon, the first biotechnology company in India(1978)
ü  N. R. Narayana Murthy (1946- ), co-founder of Infosys Technologies(1981)
ü  Sabeer Bhatia (1968- ), co-founder of Hotmail(1996)
ü  T. V. Sundaram Iyengar (1877–1955), founder of the TVS Group(1911 :))
ü  Kasturbhai Lalbhai (1894–1980), textile baron, founder of Arvind Mills(1931)
ü  and many more.

Do you observe a pattern here? Well most of these pioneers came up with their ventures in the post-independence era except for a few like Biocon, Infosys and Hotmail. NOM. :P. Very few have come up in the recent past (2000s) and have survived to make a mark in the Global Market. What crosses my mind is that there could be a dearth of free-thinkers in the society. Are people these days scared to reject authority and dogma?  There might as well be some other reason. The Economic Times reported recently that there is a shortage of skilled workforce which is why the mushrooming Entrepreneurs are not exploiting the benefits of Globalization.

The Indian Society traditionally has been divided into four castes: The scholarly priests, the warriors, the traders and the people doing lowly jobs. Today the Indian Society is by and large divided into three categories :

1.The well-established business families, such as the Mittals, Tatas, Ambanis, Birlas and the like. Most of these companies have a strong management team, and are now going global. World trust in the Indian corporate sector is increasing like never before because of them.

2.The young graduatesWith information technology and multinational corporations on the rise in India, these youngsters serve as the backbone of many flourishing enterprises. In fact they constitute of the rolling workforce. The problem with them is that, they like ducking underneath a domineering boss and are happy being followers all life long.

3.The small business entrepreneurs. You will find them in every big city, town, or village in India. They rely on sheer entrepreneurship ability that include training, experience, customer service skills, networking, hard work, and innovation. The only drawback with them is that they do not pay much heed to a formal education.

But when a person from Category 2 ultimately makes up his 'entrepreneurial' mind, builds up some courage finally, and approaches a bank to get some finance sanctioned, all his/her pleas go unheard. Most of the Small Business Loans get denied even if a proper business plan is provided. Sadly, there is ample willingness to invest capital in a well-established enterprise but there is little willingness to fund start-ups.

Moreover the brand monopoly by Category 1 type businesses is actually shunting the chances of smaller business ventures to make it large.

Mera Bharat Mahan!?!
Jai Hind anyway :/

Some beautiful poems on Marriage...

Came across this poem by  Ogden Nash, and totally fell in love with it.... the words are beautiful...

Geniuses of countless nations
Have told their love for generations
Till all their memorable phrases
Are common as goldenrod or daisies.
Their girls have glimmered like the moon,
Or shimmered like a summer moon,
Stood like a lily, fled like a fawn,
Now the sunset, now the dawn,
Here the princess in the tower
There the sweet forbidden flower.
Darling, when I look at you
Every aged phrase is new,
And there are moments when it seems
I've married one of Shakespeare's dreams.

And this one's composer is unknown... but the lines are so apt and so true

                                                             These I Can Promise
I cannot promise you a life of sunshine;
I cannot promise riches, wealth, or gold;
I cannot promise you an easy pathway
That leads away from change or growing old.

But I can promise all my heart's devotion;
A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;
A love that's ever true and ever growing;
A hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.

Love vs Ego

Hey all!
Came across a kiddish story but actually liked it... So thought of adding it onto my blog for future reference...

"Once upon a time....there was an island far far away, called the Home of Feelings.
Joy, Love, Ego, Care, Shame, Hatred, Magnanimity, Generosity, Kindness, Shyness, Audacity, Disgust, Frustration, Jealousy and all the feelings that we can think of lived on that island. They had been staying together on the same island for centuries and were all having a great time with each other. Each feeling played its role in a indefatigably glib manner, never drifting from its own role.

It was just another regular pleasant morning that this island was seeing, 'Jealousy' was the first one to get ready, as it was jealous of everybody else, so wanted to be numero uno at everything. 'Care' was taking care of everything and everybody. 'Love' was loving everybody and spreading smiles. 'Hatred' was abusing everybody and hating everybody for unique reasons. 'Ego' was sitting in one corner not mingling with anybody, lost in its own world, for it felt it was better than everybody else. Activity was busy doing active-stuff as every other day, It was then that all of a sudden 'Panic' alarmed everybody by jumping up and down and running all over the entire island screaming - "Tsunami" "Tsunami" ...!!!

Love and Care took notice of this and immediately arranged for boats to set sail towards the next island. They sent everybody on them. Jealousy was the first one to get on, while hatred still hated this happening. But things went on, everybody was busy saving their own lives, while love and care were sending everybody. What nobody took notice of, but 'love' did take notice of, was that someone was sitting in one corner and not getting on any of the boats. 'Love' reached out to him, to see who he was, it was 'EGO'. 'Love' said, "my dear friend come with me, else you will die here." After all, it was 'ego'. It kept refusing, while love kept forcing him to come along. 'Ego' kept rejecting. 'Care' tied the boat to the shore, waiting for these two to come. Unfortunately, 'careless' was on the same boat, it broke the string by mistake, which tied the boat to the shore. 'Love' did not get scared; it still loved careless, while it still kept forcing 'ego' to come along. The last boat left, Tsunami arrived, taking away the last two lives on the Island."

Might sound tacky but the jist of the story is that, lets suppress our ego, as much as possible and start enjoying a much better life. For, ego kills love along with itself. Every relation starts looking more beautiful, when EGO gets eliminated. Let's make sincere efforts to kill that element in us from this moment onward.

Loads of Love ...

Why do i feel so low

Woke up with a tear in my eye,
simply don't know why...
T'was a bright bright morning,
Still something in me kept bothering...
Can't figure out... what why o why...
Bring such thoughts into my mind
and a tear in my eye...

Where's the light gone,
why do I feel so alone,
Something stops me from going on and on
I feel so layed back and so cut off
from all these buzzing people
like humming bees in the garden of paradise!

Where is the Queen bee in me gone,
to rule and win, she was born...
Why am I so low, where did the real me go...
Whats happening, I still don't know

Can't figure out... what and why...
Bring such thoughts on my mind
and a tear in my eye...

I'm sad... so sad .. this is bad real real bad...

Back to School ? No Way!!!

The most complicated education System in the whole wide world pushed solely by money and social status ... welcome to India where money alone drives the chariot of success. Here the poor go to 'easy schools' where they study in their respective vernaculars and finally drop out all perplexed; and the well-heeled go to the affluent Schools where money does the homework trick! Taa-daa!!!

Rich School Scenario: I feel angry at times thinking about it. No one is sitting idle. Mr.Sibal has done a great favour by introducing the Grading System in CBSE schools. At least till 2008 a student used to study sincerely for the fear of exams. Now, an entire year of being a bum pays you off with a 10point CGPA in 10th and 12th grades! That is really unfair to the hardworking ones. Moreover if such a system has come into play, it should have been applied onto the ICSE and the Regional Schools as well. Thankfully it didn't, atleast some kids still study sincerely and 'earn' their marks.

Poor School Scenario: Calamitous state of affairs prevail at the regional school level. Tribal education as usual remains dead-neglected. Records collected in schools in some areas indicate continuing high "dropout" rates among tribal children. A major reason for this is that in most states the medium of instruction is the regional language. Most tribal children do not understand the textbooks, which are generally in the regional language. The appointment of non-tribal teachers in tribal children’s schools is another problem: the teachers do not know the language the children speak and children do not understand the teacher’s language!

There are over 193million children in the age of 6-14 in India. Out of which hardly 20% are getting a hassle free childhood and a proper 'paid' education. What about the rest? As i figured out, some steps like providing textbooks in the mother tongue for children at the beginning of the primary education cycle, when they do not understand the regional language; a suitably adapted curriculum for later classes and the availability of locally relevant teaching and learning materials for the backward children etc. can be easily taken up by the Government to be implemented on a 'fast-track' basis so that the book reaches the child when he is 4 and not when he is 40 and tilling a field somewhere :-/

Another question that arises is that why can't a young mind be trained to study English? Research proves that if a child is in a stimulating environment, he/she can have upto 25% greater ability to learn. After all humans are 'born' with the ability to learn any language, and learning more languages help in cognitive development. A 3-year-old toddler's brain is twice as active as an adult's brain. Then why can't a uniformly structured education system be provided in all schools across the country? In simple words, make all schools English Medium. A child can opt for 2 more languages depending on his/her own choice. Give more stress on language. Once his foundation on all three languages is strong enough, divide the classes based on what other subject the child wants to take up viz. Sciences and Mathematics, the Social Sciences, Technical training or combinations of these.

If structuring the existing complicated system is so difficult, at-least a revised version adopted from elsewhere should be implemented on the new entrants (4yr olds) for a 10 year period to identify the outcome which i bet will be thousand fold better than what it is now! A very evident example is the German Education System which undoubtedly is the best in the world. In German Schools, education from ages 6-14 is mandatory and free as well. (Of-course, providing free education for all in our nation is out of question as the Ministry will be deprived of filling up their coffers with the spills from corruption, duh!) Never mind, as I was telling, In Germany all the children enter the same program at age-4, but at age 10 the real 'branching out' happens where their track record determines which type of school they ought to enter and further on whether they can opt for a university/technical education/trading. This is a fair way of judging a child's capabilities; a uniform grooming and evaluation filters out the ones which are meant for  University Qualifications irrespective of their family s' status as the child has an option of training and part time schooling right from age 11.

Whats gonna happen to our children? In our times, we were confused only after 12th as Medical and Engineering seemed to be the only decent options for the Science stream kids. I don't know what kind of confusion the current 12th pass outs are going to face. I am worried. :-|

Gosh I need to zip it and shut up right now! Enuf of nibbling your brains. Buh-Bye and Keep thinking ...

The Art of Giving!

Simple things that make us crave,
Prolonged yearnings that never go away,
Polite wishes or harsh wants,
Come what may, we want them all!
Stop and think, just for once,
Don't we have enough at all ?
Day in and day out, we keep pondering,
'Is that it?', we keep wondering...

I am no saint with exceptional holiness!
Nor have I been deprived of tender emotions,
Can't we see, the penniless ones?
Turning a blind eye, isn't it what we do?
What if he was one of me or you?
Give it a thought, and you will see the truth.

Share some, if not much, just a slight.
Once you are done, you will feel the might,
to bring a change, to start an inveigh,
for the world which is yours, and had been always...

Clouds...

So white and bright and full of life,
I know not where they are to fly...
forming a white veil over the earth,
a sight of beauty to all of us.
Cirro - or the wisp of hair,
Alto - O! it flies so high,
Cumulo - always found in heaps,
Strato - those flat layered ones,
i find their names so enthralling...
a wish my fingers could feel them,
to distant lands i wanna fly,
that will never be heard of :)
Curly puffy wispy waves, innocent though
are adept at lashing out upheavals !
Ah! those soothing and welcoming downpours,
quenching the thirsty arid zones,
the peasant feels God just graced his devotion,
to his complete satisfaction.
At times these dark saggy pouches scare me,
especially the vexed loud erratic bolts!
Gosh! Charring all that comes in its way :(
Even then these linear-banded clouds amaze me,
making out illusory patterns is a good pass time !!!

heavy... o so heavy!

i donno y m havin a really bad mood swing today.. i feel so depressed...
i feel guilty...for neglecting our bond...

its almost a year since... nevermind.

i still remember, 19th december 2009... dat was the last day we were together...
it was such a happy day... we even went out for a movie... wid the gang... i got to meet you after suchha long gap ... thanks to a common friend... who was then, your 'best friend'...

it'd been 9yrs since you'd left school... you were my first 'best friend'...n i guess i was the same to u... and all of a sudden ... on this beautiful day.. i thought that you were back in my life ... once again... i was ready to push out all the others and give you that special spot of a best pal once again... i wish i didn't leave the city in march...
i wish i was here all along...
i wish those 9yrs never came in between... i wish we were 12 yr olds again...

You had so much more to do... you had a whole life lying in front of you...
you had so many unfulfilled dreams... you were just a girl... my best girl...
i wish time would turn its tide... and things would be normal again...
it all happened so suddenly... and i wasn't even here... i feel so ashamed of myself...
i am sorry... i wish i cud be a better friend to u... please forgive me...
i silently pray for you every now and then...
and deep down within.. i believe... that wherever you are...you are happy and content...
God Bless...

SWEET STUFF ... :)

Dreams are meant to come alive,

So I knit them today, & I know they'll thrive...

A beautiful land of make-believe,
Where sweetness overflows that we receive...

Let the whole world lucidly see,
what's up between you and me...

Run away far far away,
Someplace where there is no dismay...

Lets watch the sun rise together...
Lets silently promise to hold-hands, forever...

AM I A "TRANSFORMER "?!?

 mixed reactions....

T'was just yesterday when everything seemed to be so easy... But today is a whole new day altogether!

Well, basically this is a spoilt, rather pampered-to-the-hilt child reporting. Have never asked for anything twice till date! Toys, Books, Gadgets ... u name it.. she's got 'em all! Days used to be so easy before... I mean 've never considered 'planning ahead' was ever an option. Taking a day at a time has been the mantra all along.

But now........................phew! I mean, realizing the fact that life has actually changed so much within a jiffy is taking its toll! Untill last week, the feeling was that of a born-free-careless youngster who was never fastened to anything or anyone! The world was limited... ow .. so so limited to THE family n friends !!! But now gosh! there are manacles all over the place! No one is complaining in here... no no no... infact .. to be honest ...all this attention is kinda sweet in its own way... but of course, it'll take some time to seep in :)

But something is missing... That hollow feeling hasn't left yet. The crave for something... E X C I T I N G to happen... as thrilling as an alien invasion or a sudden mutation... is driving me nuts!!! Gosh there'll be chaos far and wide!!! Hotfoots all over the place .. he he he... sheeeessh! M loosing it ... cool down lady...cool... *deep breaths* ...

Actually, its plain old nervousness.. to be honest..it is this panicky-drama rolling in the head. Can see something of mega-wattage coming up... and why the heck isn't this lab-rat kinda feeling going away?! It should go..  gotta be braver.. gutsier than ever before...

tremble* ....tremble*.......brrrrrr... :-S
