We had a nervous dialogue, I didn't know what to say,
Remember the walk? It was a breezy day…
Next spring I was at your flat,
The wedlock was being settled ...
We spent some time on the terrace,
Brooding over my birthday souvenir…
Time flew by and then came fall,
You were at my place, our hearts filled with unrest!
A nascent love maturing fast amid ourselves…
You planted a li’l kiss, the first that I'll never forget.
Some more months whizzed by,
Having nothing significant to transcribe…
‘Coz, my heart longed to see you, again and again…
Unending phone calls,
midnight conversations,
Life was solely holding on to the tip of cupid’s arrow.
Then came the nuptial day,
And you were finally here!
Customs barred us from meeting,
'til the ceremonials were done.
Across the hallway I saw you approaching,
Robed in a garb, pure white ’Topor’ et al…
All the prattling around me muffled,
All I could see was you…only you…
Brothers lifted me up on a ‘peedey’ sturdily,
I hid my face behind beetle leaves,
The ear-splitting ‘ululation’
by the ladies amused me!

was about to be your bride tonight…
Way past midnight, we were declared man and wife,
You held my hand tight, I felt shy!
The giggles in my head just wouldn't go away!
‘Gosh girl!’ I thought ‘Grow
up! Be a wife! J’
Time whooshed by again, distances tore us apart,
We had jobs to do, across cities alienated wide.
Then came a turning point in both of our lives!
We realised that I was expectant,
We went cracked with delight!
I left all behind, and rushed to ‘our’ home,
We lived like a duo, in wedlock, close and tight J
Honey, all I have to say is that…
The life we’v shared this past year
Has proved forever it shall persevere...
I will love you forever in every way
That will remain constant until my dying day...
Happy 1st Anniversary! This is the most special Anniversary
in our lives. I am sure we will spend numerous more together.
I wish I could do more. Wanted to gift you something special. Will
do that too.
But right now, I couldn't think of anything better than my
experience with you arranged in a semi-poetic mode…
